History of the Theodosia Country Club
Theodosia Country Club was laid out in the early 1970's as the focal point of Theodosia Hills Development, which later became the Village of Sundown. After a couple of years of limited play the course was abandoned to nature until the spring of 1992. At that time, the old greens were reconstructed and seeded with bentgrass and work began to bring the existing fairways into playable condition. A pond was constructed to serve as a hazard on #4 hole, and also for future fairway irrigation. The tees have been sodded with zoysia grass. Also in 1998 the fairways within 150 yards of each hole were plugged with zoysia grass. These fairways are now well established with zoysia. The original 6,400 square-foot clubhouse was refurbished and contains the pro shop, lounge, restrooms, and a large reception area. The air strip at the club has been closed, but the existing hangars are used for cart storage. Play officially began on the new Theodosia Country Club golf course on July 1, 1992. It is a very tight and challenging course with the beauty of mature trees, views of Bull Shoals Lake and the hills of the Ozarks.
